RPM New User Interface

(information and screen captures provided here are subject to change without notice)

Screen Shots of Current Templates

Including screen shots of the new destination dialog. The same dialog will be used before the report is processed and from within the preview, sans the "preview" option, of course.

As is the case in the current versions of RPM, source for the dialog is provided so you can modify the look and feel as well as translate the text as required. In fact source for ALL windowed procedures, and a large number of previously unavailable functions as well as many new ones, are provided as source.

Compile your apps to access ONE DLL or, if you prefer local compiles, no DLL at all!

Sneak peek at the updated report viewer. In this screen cap you can see the expanded thumb setup allowing up to 48* thumbnail images to be displayed.

Also new to this release is the ability to jump to the next or previous marked page.

(* count is determined by window and desktop area)

Sneak peek at the new thumbnail viewer. You might notice a couple of changes ... the page limit has been increased from the current 6 thumbs and, if you look closely, you might notice that not all pages have the same orientation!

This release still doesn't support mixed paper sizes, but it does support mixed orientation in preview and mixed orientation when printed. For mixed paper sizes you'll have to wait for the new UI.

Don't like page numbers when viewing thumbnails? Well, you can get rid of them with ease!

Dialog with extended report targets, before report generation.

Displayed with printer drop down lists. Drop down lists are active by default but can be replaced with a simple "printer" button by setting one design time option.

Output page range is disabled since this dialog is opened before the report is run.

Same dialog with extended report targets list selected. In this case displaying the print options.

Individual report options can be disabled by design time or runtime options - developer's discretion!

Just so you are aware, you can define up to 10 additional extended report targets of your own choosing. If they don't require any input from the user they will display as shown here.

Also, for existing extended targets, if you simply want the user to select them, and you handle the specific options, the built-in targets will be displayed in a similar manner.

Here is another example of an additional, developer defined, extended target that requires the selection of a target file.

This support is already built into the dialog so you simply select the option. You can also force the file extension to be anything you want - already built-in!

AFE (Automated Fax Engine) support is already built into the new dialog including cover sheet selection and cover sheet preview!

A generic image viewer, with zoom and print capabilities, is provided with this update. It can be used anywhere within your application if you want. And, as with the destination dialog, source for the viewer is provided.

This is the built-in image viewer showing the fax cover sheet selected above with fields filled in so your users can see what the recipient will receive.

Zoom levels from 20% through 400% in 10% increments.

Fit to width, fit to height, fit to page and print.

Another screen capture of the built-in image viewer showing it being used to view images in a folder.

When multiple images are passed into the viewer, or a folder is opened, a resizable listbox is displayed allowing selection of the image to be viewed.

Print & Page Setup Dialog for image viewer

When printing from the image viewer the user can select a printer, the desired paper and paper bin.

In addition they can print copies, decide whether to print portrait or landscape, and center the printed image on the page.

For images that are smaller than the selected paper, the user can also elect to enlarge the image to fit the printable area.

Source is provided for this dialog.

Print Dialog for image viewer (normal)

This is the same dialog opened for print and page setup.

You can also see the behavior of selecting a different paper orientation. The sample page & image adjust according to the paper and orientation selected by the user.

Print Dialog for image viewer (thumbnails)

Dialog displaying the RPM report archive prompts.

Dialog displaying RPM text export prompts.

These same prompts are available for any text export. The only difference is the "overwrite/append" radio buttons are not shown.

PDF export prompts.

You can programmatically hide and/or disable every control on this option depending on your specific needs. This ability to hide/disable controls is also supported in the built-in fax and email targets.

Of course you can also edit the dialog source if desired.

Same dialog without any extended targets, just preview and print.
As mentioned above, if you prefer not to use the printer drop down lists, you can optionally use a printer select button. It's just a single checkbox setting on the global template.
When you provide no printer or range options the dialog automatically resizes. Here the "Press OK to ..." text changes to mirror the preview or print options.

When the ONLY option is to print a report, then that's the only option the user gets! Here you have not provided printer or range options so the dialog resizes itself.
Again, print only, but with print options and no page ranges.
Dialog, from preview, with extended report options and page ranges. Notice that more than one target can be selected by the user.
Again, showing support for user typed range string.
Again, but with ALL pages selected.

Dialog, from preview, for "print one page."

Page range string is set to the selected page and the range option group is disabled.

If you've made it all the way down here, you might as well take a look at the testing interface used during development. It might give you a better insight of the number of developer options available. And to top it all, there are many not even displayed here!

Please note: the Word and Excel options are for developer defined target tests.   No, RPM doesn't provide this .... yet!
